Alhambra tickets

The Patronato sells nine tickets for the Alhambra hill, and only some of them open the Nasrid Palaces. Here is what each one covers, what it costs in 2026 and how to get one before they run out.

Every official Alhambra ticket comes from one place: the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife, through its shop at tickets.alhambra-patronato.es, its phone line and the ticket offices at the monument. The prices below come from the Patronato's official hours and prices page and the ticket shop, read in October 2026. Online prices include the booking fee.

Tour prices are Viator from-prices in US dollars, checked the same week. They move with the season, the official ones almost never do.

The quick answer

For a first visit, buy the Alhambra General ticket: EUR 22.27 online, with the Alcazaba, the Generalife and the Nasrid Palaces at a fixed half-hour slot. The EUR 12.73 Gardens, Generalife and Alcazaba ticket is the cheaper option, and it leaves out the palaces. Tickets are named, non-refundable and sell out weeks ahead in spring and autumn. If the date you need is gone, a guided tour with its own ticket allocation costs about three times as much and still gets you in.

How much are Alhambra tickets in 2026?

EUR 22.27 online for the full daytime visit (EUR 21 at the ticket office). The gardens-only ticket is EUR 12.73, and night tickets start at EUR 8.48.

Here is the full official list, with what each ticket opens. The Nasrid Palaces column is the one that matters: those palaces are the reason most people climb the hill.

At the ticket office the General costs EUR 21 and the gardens ticket EUR 12; the difference is the online fee. The Alhambra closes on 25 December and 1 January, and every other day of the year it opens at 08:30.

What does the Alhambra General ticket include?

All four spaces of the monument: the Nasrid Palaces at the time printed on the ticket, plus the Alcazaba, the Partal and the Generalife at any time from 08:30 until closing.

The ticket shop lists it room by room: the Mexuar, the Comares Palace, the Palace of the Lions and the Lindaraja corridor inside the Nasrid Palaces; the portico and gardens of the Partal; the Torre de la Vela and the Jardín de los Adarves in the Alcazaba; the Generalife palace and gardens. You can enter each of those four spaces once. In between you can leave and come back through the open areas as often as you like (the Patronato's FAQ).

Plan on about three hours. The Patronato says so, and every full-length guided tour on Viator runs to the same length. Since the August 2026 earthquakes, the Alcazaba is open again on an adapted route (it reopened on 23 September), and some towers stay off the route; our earthquake update tracks what is still closed.

Free without any ticket: the Puerta de la Justicia, the Plaza de los Aljibes, the courtyard of the Charles V Palace and the Alhambra Museum on its ground floor. Nice extras, but they are not why you came.

The Fountain of the Lions. It is inside the Nasrid Palaces, so the gardens ticket does not reach it.

Which Alhambra tickets do not include the Nasrid Palaces?

The EUR 12.73 Gardens, Generalife and Alcazaba ticket, the night gardens ticket and the Andalusi monuments ticket. Several Viator tours with "Alhambra and Generalife" in the title leave them out too.

The gardens ticket is a good product with a misleading feel. You walk the Alcazaba ramparts, the Partal pools and the whole Generalife, and you never set foot in the Court of the Myrtles or the Court of the Lions. Buy it on a second visit, or when the General is gone and you can live without the palaces. Our Generalife ticket guide compares the two in detail.

On Viator, read the inclusions, not the title. The Play Granada guided tour, the most reviewed Alhambra listing, lists the Nasrid Palaces ticket as not included. The same goes for the Alcazaba and Generalife ticket with audio guide, and the $23 option of the Granavision tour stays outside the monument altogether. Amigo Tours' $78 "Alhambra Guided Tour with Generalife Gardens" excludes the palaces too.

Want the palaces in the price? The NHUE small-group tour includes the Nasrid Palaces at a slot booked for you, plus the Alcazaba and the Generalife.

Who gets reduced or free Alhambra tickets?

Children under 12 go free but need a ticket booked with the adults. EU citizens aged 65 and over, EU Youth Card holders, children aged 12 to 15 and visitors with a disability of 33% or more pay a reduced price, EUR 14.85 online for the General.

  • Under 12: free. Children aged 3 to 11 must be reserved in the same purchase as the adults; under-3s get a free ticket at the ticket office without booking (the Patronato's FAQ).
  • Ages 12 to 15: reduced price, with the parents.
  • EU citizens 65+ and EU Youth Card holders: reduced price, with documents to prove it at the entrance.
  • Disability of 33% or more: reduced or free, with the certificate.
  • Andalusi monuments in the city: free for everyone on Sundays.

The reduced-price rule that catches people out: non-EU seniors pay full price. A 70-year-old from Canada or the US buys the EUR 22.27 ticket.

How do you buy Alhambra tickets from the official site?

Online at tickets.alhambra-patronato.es until 23:59 the day before, by phone on +34 858 889 002, or same-day at the ticket office if any are left. Every ticket carries a name and an ID number.

Pick the ticket, the date and, for the General, the Nasrid Palaces slot. Then enter the full name and passport or ID number of every visitor. The Patronato caps sales at 10 tickets per person, card and month, and online sales for a date close at 23:59 the night before (official hours and prices page).

  • No refunds, no date changes. The ticket shop says it plainly: no returns or exchanges.
  • Name corrections are possible until the day before the visit, as long as the ticket has not been printed.
  • Bring the original ID you booked with. Staff check it at the gates, and guests report the passport gets scanned more often than the ticket.
  • Ticket office sales cover only the same day, while stock lasts, up to two hours before the Nasrid Palaces slot. In spring and autumn there is usually nothing left by mid-morning.

The ticket shows a QR code you can print or keep on your phone. Unofficial sites that look like the Patronato's shop resell the same ticket with a markup; the real address is the one above.

When do Alhambra tickets go on sale, and how fast do they sell out?

The online calendar runs about three months ahead, and General tickets for spring, autumn and holiday weekends often go weeks before the date.

The shop shows the current month and the two after it, so tickets for a mid-April visit appear in early February. The Alhambra had 2,725,612 visitors in 2024, and the Nasrid Palaces take at most 300 people per half hour, so the General is the first ticket to go. The gardens ticket and the night tickets usually last longer.

Sold out is not always final. The Patronato reserves part of its capacity for institutional channels and releases what they don't use for direct sale later, which is why tickets reappear in the last days before a date. Our sold-out guide covers every route that still works, from the midnight check to the night visit.

Are the Dobla de Oro and Rodríguez-Acosta tickets worth it?

Yes, if you would visit the city's Andalusi monuments anyway: the EUR 30.48 Dobla de Oro is the General ticket plus El Bañuelo, Dar al-Horra and the other Nasrid sites in the Albaicín for EUR 8.21 more.

The Dobla de Oro General gives the full Alhambra visit with its own Nasrid Palaces slot, and the city monuments on the day before, the same day or the day after. The night version, EUR 23.06, pairs the night palaces with the same city sites. Dar al-Horra and the Casa Morisca Horno de Oro reopened on 24 October 2026 after the earthquakes; the Maristán stays closed.

The EUR 25.45 Rodríguez-Acosta ticket adds the white carmen and gardens built for the painter José María Rodríguez-Acosta below the Alhambra, open 10:00 to 14:00. Both combos carry a Nasrid Palaces slot from their own allocation, so check them when the plain General is gone.

The Granada Card is the other bundle. The 48-hour card (EUR 55) includes the daytime Alhambra with the Nasrid Palaces, monuments in the city and nine bus rides; the 24-hour card (EUR 50) has only the night palaces (Granada tourist office).

What do Alhambra tours on Viator add to the ticket price?

A guaranteed Nasrid Palaces slot when the official site is sold out, and a guide. You pay roughly three times the ticket price, and almost every tour is non-refundable.

The numbers: the EUR 22.27 General against $67 for the NHUE small-group tour (about 20 people, headsets, three hours), $78 for the same route in groups of 10, and $36 for a resold General ticket with an audio guide. Guests on that last one report paying "about 70 euros compared to 20" when they booked at short notice.

What you get for the markup is certainty. Tour operators book from their own allocation, so a tour often has space when the shop shows nothing. The catch is the refund policy: all of these are non-refundable. The one exception in our list is the private tour with an official guide, from $119 per person, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

Our view: if the official General is on sale for your date, buy it there and add a guide only if you want one. If it is gone, the NHUE tour is the best value with the palaces included.
